Real Techniques Miracle Sponge ($6.00) available at Ulta, Walgreens, Wal-Mart and other drugstores.

The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge is legit.

I haven’t tried a bunch of beautyblender alternatives and I am a beautyblender junkie, but this is on par with that product. If someone came to me and said “$20 is too steep for a sponge.” I’d point them to Real Techniques.

It’s hard to be a makeup lover or someone just starting out with makeup if you can’t spend what everyone else is spending. It’s easy to think you’re shortchanging yourself trying alternatives, but you’re not especially in this case. So if that’s you then you don’t have to wonder. You can get this and move on to the beautyblender when you’re ready or this can be your staple forever. It’s up to you.

Some Tips:

Since this is $6 think about getting 2. I like to know my sponge is dry so getting two gives a sponge more than 24 hours to get there. This way with cleaning after each use it’s not continuously damp and you’ll lower the chance of mold growing on it.
*
Watch your nails. It doesn’t take much to nick this sponge so be careful as you apply product and when you’re cleaning it.
*
Squeezing it between a towel can help get excess water out while limiting damage.
